Timer Sculpture 2008

Documentation from Brussels Art fair and the integrated group exhibition Ephemeral Fringes, curated by Filip Luyckx

Material: Timer, inner tubes from truck tyres, plastic foil, metal construction, rubber, thread, headlights for cars, cables, light bulbs, and wood board, PVC foam, PVC pipes, tape, rubber glue

Size: Approximately 2 m high and 2, 5 m wide

A pile of inner tubes from Trucks (rubber) creates a “body”. Four big arms grow out of the pile. The muscles are exaggerated. They bend their elbows a bit. In their hands, each of them holds a car headlight, which is placed on a black metal lamp stand. A timer placed inside the “rubber pile body” makes the light go on and off every 19 second. So it will be 19 seconds of light, 19 seconds of no light.
